West Stoke House Awarded Michelin Star
West Stoke House Awarded Michelin Star
- another reason to visit delicious Chichester -
West Stoke House near Chichester is the latest restaurant Hotel to receive a Michelin Star. This award recognises the evolution of West Stoke's modern British menu under chef Darren Brown, who places emphasis on great quality seafood and locally sourced meats.
Formerly part of the Goodwood estate, Georgian-built West Stoke House is a ‘restaurant with rooms' of the finest proportions. Accommodation comprises eight large contemporary styled double rooms and fabulous views over the rolling West Sussex countryside complement the elegant dining room where diners can enjoy fine food at a reasonable price.
A real first for this part of the country, the Michelin award bears testament to the increased profile of Chichester's local produce which includes great local crab from Selsey, the only entirely self-sustaining organic farm in Europe at nearby Home Farm (with meats from rare breeds including Southdown Lamb, Saddleback Sows and Sussex Beef) not to forget the rich tapestry of mushrooms which make their home on the fertile Sussex Downs ( Black Trompette, Cauliflower fungi, Chanterelle, Ceps and the wonderfully named Chicken of Woods).
Rowland and Mary Leach, owners and proprietors of West Stoke House, are delighted with the award saying, "This award is really exciting and puts us in line with some of the top London restaurants. The district of Chichester is a real gem for visitors, there is so much on offer and now we can say we are home to top notch food of the highest calibre!"
